Restoring the Pieces!

+ Security Building

Ja-Mar completed the historic cast iron work on Cottingham & Butler's Security Building in 2008. This included 14' tall decorative pilasters, panels, trim for two sides of the building and a 8' high by 14' high arched sign on 8th street.

Iowa Historic Preservation Alliance (IHPA) announced its 2009 "Preservation At Its Best" award to honor projects whose work demonstrates a commitment to preservation. This project won the Large Commercial Category.

+ Store Front Renovations

A complete store front can be manufactured at Ja-Mar for your building project. Including any special door or window framework or trim. We can build any size or shape, from single door entrances to multiple door entrances with side lights/display windows.

+ Decorative Details

Any details can be included in the design of your pilasters, panels, trim, frame work and signs. As shown by the Ribbons, Owls and Garland on the Security Building pilasters. These details can be cast iron, bronze, brass or aluminum. Transom windows can also add a special decorative detail.

The first photo is is the view from the main street side. The store front on the building needed to be completely replaced. All new pilasters, bases, panels the window and door trim. New bronze doors were added to replace the ones that existed before renovation.

The second photo is the view from the 8th street side. Same as above with the addition of the new door way with the large 8th street sign.
